Truly effective weight loss starts with determining what is at the root of the patient’s problem? If all excess weight was from lack of exercise and eating less, we’d have far fewer fad weight-programs. The other factor in the large number of fad programs is that there are so many seeking wealth and fame and this greed fuels great marketing and not necessarily finding and delivering the truth.
Acupuncture by itself is just a tool. People do not have excess weight because of a lack of acupuncture needles, pharmaceuticals, fad-diets, etc, in their lives. The use of a tool or tools is fine, but what are more important are the thought and lifestyle changes and the overall plan to create lasting change. Too many Patients look for something or someone else to do it for them. They don’t want the responsibility or don’t want to do the work so they look for something inexpensive and/or easy and shouldn’t be surprised that there are either no or little results, or when they get good results, they don’t last long.
Here are some possible issues that may be at the root of weight-issues:
- Too little activity
- Fungal/yeast problems
- Hormonal imbalance or dysfunction
- Emotional issues
- Blood sugar issues (diabetes, syndrome-X, etc)
- Food sensitivities/allergies
Difficulty may arise when more than one root presents or when there are underlying roots that go uncovered thus, the best treatment is not initiated.
One of the other factors that derail success is the Patient themselves! Be it their subconscious mind, secondary gain, addiction, rationalization, depression and anxiety or something else, there is extreme difficulty in treating the Patient that on some level, doesn’t want to succeed! This is why any one tool may be amazingly effective for one person and do absolutely nothing for another. It is also why going to an experienced Practitioner who can help identify the roots of your imbalance or problem and provide or suggest proper care is the way to go. It is also imperative to be open-minded and willing to do the work to create healthy change.
At NENHS, acupuncture, diet, supplements, detoxification, cupping, neurolink and neuro-emotional technique are approaches that may be used in your program. After your initial evaluation, a treatment plan will be discussed with you.
